The Chaos of Long-Haul Logistics
A pallet might leave your facility looking perfect, but a 1,500km journey from Surat to Chennai involves heavy braking, potholes, and forklift mishandling. Without proper unitization, boxes shift, collapse, and crush each other. This "load shifting" is the primary cause of pallet-level damage.
Unitizing the Load: The Holy Trinity of Pallet Security
Securing a load requires three main components working in harmony: Edge Protectors, PET Strapping, and High-Performance Stretch Film.
1. Edge Protectors (Angle Boards)
Placing rigid cardboard angle boards on the corners of a palletized load distributes the tension of the strapping and stretch film. Without them, straps bite into the top boxes, crushing your product.
2. Stretch Film (Machine vs. Manual)
Not all stretch film is equal. Using standard 12-micron manual film for a 1-ton pallet is a recipe for disaster. Heavy industrial loads require 23 to 30-micron cast stretch film. Machine-grade film can stretch up to 300%, providing immense holding force (load containment) that prevents shifting.
3. PET vs PP Strapping
For heavy industrial goods like metal ingots or machinery, PET (Polyester) strapping is replacing steel. It absorbs impacts without snapping (which steel does) and doesn't lose tension over time like PP (Polypropylene) strapping.
The ROI of Premium Packaging Consumables
Spending an extra ₹50 on high-grade stretch film and angle boards per pallet can save a ₹50,000 product from rejection. It is an insurance policy with a near-immediate ROI.
